If you haven't tried out Cairo-dock in a while, you need to. Cairo dock/ GLX dock 3.4 is out now bringing with it boasts a number of improvements over last year's 3.3 version. A new default look and added functionality and customizability of the menus makes it more flexible than ever and breathes now life into your desktop environment. With dozens of themes available the dock is a viable alternative to the Unity lens or you can run both simultaneously. The default view on installation is pleasant enough for those who wish to leave it, but if you're like me you just can't stop playing with it and changing every little thing. I started using Cairo dock because I wanted just a little more modern feel and once I got sucked into the black hole of customizing the dock I was amazed at the possibilities. You can customize practically any aspect of the dock with ease even if you are still new the Linux family. More advanced uses may also enjoy contributing their own created themes to the project. As I mentioned before there have been several improvements over the previous versions, a full list of which is available at http://glx-dock.org where you can also get info on contributing to the project or make a donation to a worthy application.
